Here is a sketch of a Glider, a type of steed in Pelkern.

The habitable parts of Pelkern are the Kerns. They are bright-lit, but where the Kern ecosystems peter out, you encounter the dark regions called the Tenebris. The oxygen is sparser there, and strange creatures roam in the Tenebris beyond the sight of man. If you wander in, it is easy to get lost and never find a way out.

Here is a concept piece for the world of Pelkern. I’m experimenting with a new inking style that is based off of linocuts/printmaking–I “cut out” the white from the black, rather than draw the black ink on the white. I’m pretty happy with it.

I made head busts as concept art for the two main characters of the Pelkern Cycle.

First I crafted skulls using cardboard and a glue-gun. Then I layered plaster gauze on the skulls to create the form. The only way I could get the eyes to look right is by making actual eye-balls, then placing eye-lids on top.
