Week 3 of the three week break between chapters. Next week I post Page 46, the cover page for Chapter 3.

This is a close-up of the characters from the Pelkern card. I’m especially happy with how Carolyn turned out. I partially based her pose off of Caravaggio’s painting David with the head of Goliath (the 1607 version).

We’re on week 2 of the three week page break between chapters. I’m still busy as a beaver with the prep-work for Chapter 3. In the meantime, here is the Pelkern card I handed out at Hutchmoot (an arts conference). Drawing the setting on this reminded me how excited I am to get to Pelkern. 😀

Page 44, Chapter 2. I worked and reworked the dialogue on this page. I’m pretty happy with how it came out though, as well as the expressions in Panels 1-5. 😀

Concept Art week.

This is one of my first digital paintings, from 2016. I sat on the stone steps in front of our townhouse with the smallest-size Wacom tablet hooked into a cheap laptop. I painted the foliage that I could see just beyond the parking lot, and I thought “maybe this whole digital thing could actually be fun.” It’s three years later, and I have no regrets on switching to digital painting.

Page 43. I redid the dialogue. My husband came up with Ace’s new line, and I think it works much better.

I’ll be alternating comic pages and concept art Wednesdays. 🙂
