Page 51. This page took an especially long time to draw, partially because there are 3 full figure drawings in the 1st four panels.

For this week’s concept art, I painted a photo I took of an armor set from Meersburg Castle.
(I painted a different armor set from the same castle about a year ago, found here: Armor Study 1).
It took me 7.5 hours to paint, but I compressed it to 50 seconds in this speedpaint video:
Page 49 goes up next week (on Wednesday the 12th).
This is my favorite line-art from one of the upcoming pages–I especially love how Sol turned out. The three have walked into a worrying situation, and I feel like I captured that in their body language.
You can find the most recent Page of the Pelkern cycle Here.
Over the holiday vacation, I took the opportunity to brush up on my human anatomy. I read and sketched the diagrams from my favorite anatomy book, David K Rubins’ Anatomy for Artists. This is one of the sketches from those studies.
I’m currently working on Pages 49-50. Unfortunately I won’t be able to post Page 49 until January 29th. Until then, I’ll post some more concept art (including some reference photos that I took in Costa Rica). The most recent page of The Pelkern Cycle is Page 48.
I got a new digital drawing tablet in an early Black Friday sale, and I am loving it. I can get more fluid and dynamic lines with this tablet than I could with my last one. This is the line-art of Ace and Carolyn from an upcoming page. I am also getting better at drawing the characters, in general. Hooray!
Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers. I hope you have a good time with your families!
Page 46 is my most recent comic page. Page 47 up next week. 🙂
